I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. -John Muir

Walking is the great adventure, the first meditation, a practice of heartiness and soul primary to humankind. Walking is the exact balance between spirit and humility. -Gary Snyder

I love going for a walk, but don't do it as nearly as much as I should, or I would like to. "Would" and "should" are so different. I don't know why I just lumped them together. I want to walk more, but always find reasons I should do something else. I'm sure you have thoughts like that. Our inner monologue gives us all sorts of suggestions. You should answer emails, clean the theater..... or write a blog post.

I guess I could write a blog post about hiking. .

I'll do that. I just hacked my own should, and turned it into a want. Take that brain!

Walks are the perfect place to work on your improv.....by not working on your improv. Let your mind float and find new inspiration without actively seeking anything out. Here are, in my opinion, the five best hikes in Placer. All are easy to moderate hikes.

Hidden Falls Regional Park

With over 30 miles of trail, you'll always discover something new every time you come to Hidden Falls. The Park is well maintained, and remote

Clark's Hole Trail

Despite the terrible name, it's a great hike. Though short, less then one mile, the trail ends at a swimming hole. Perfect for the final days of summer. Grab some lunch, and spend a afternoon here.

Foresthill Divide Loop Trail

Grab your comfy boots, because you'll be on this trail for awhile. Plenty of beauty throughout the 8.7 mile hike. You have great views of both Lake Clementine and American River.

Olmstead Loop Trail

I should probably find some synonyms for "beautiful," because here's another trail that offers beautiful views. Located near Highway 49, this 8.6 mile course is easy to navigate. Plenty of trail markers to let you know which way to go.

Tinker's Cutoff Trail

It's short, .3 miles, but who doesn't love discovering a waterfall? The waterfall is year round. I should note that while the hike is listed as moderate, parts could be considered difficult. Be safe.
